Let me elaborate, the SAT only tests reading, witting (more recently), and math. Reading is just comprehension, writing is an essay and some grammar rules. Math is well math. The math questions however, are written in such a way that normal mathematics don't even seem to apply anymore. The questions are twisted into strange entities that make it difficult to even understand what they are asking. I am good in math generally, and on the SAT my math scores have been consistently low by their standards. So what could this mean? Well it could mean many things, either I am a bad test taker under pressure, or the math section is just not testing what it should be. I am usually good under pressure, and I was calm the day of the test. A little nervous at first, but I evened out when I got into my seat and actually started working on it.
The length of the test also plays an important role. The unnecessary four hours do play a purpose. This is testing how well you can stay focused for long periods of time. The test is also in the morning, around 9 A.M.
They set it up for you to do bad, all the conditions around it, are designed specifically for this. That's what I think anyway.
There are people who do good, a lot of people do good actually. They do good because they spend time preparing, and learning the ways of the SAT. My only fault was not preparing enough.
Colleges have even started to realize how shit this test is. Less and less are putting emphasis on it and more on grades in school and recommendations from professors, among other things as well.
I didn't get the "scores" I wanted. Not terrible, but could be better ya know.
So college board, evil SAT makers, this is not over. I will prevail in the end against your so called "test".
This war has only just begun.
